Circus Artist Residence
Nomadic Serenity
Site Area:
Location: Chandigarh, India
The residence for a circus artist is envisioned as a harmonious blend of minimalism and traditional Indian design, offering a tranquil retreat amidst a dynamic lifestyle. The architecture embraces fluidity and openness, allowing for an unrestricted spatial experience that reflects the artist’s movement.
The material palette is rooted in earthy authenticity, featuring pigmented flooring—a nod to traditional Indian homes—providing visual warmth and tactile comfort. Exposed lime-washed walls, handcrafted wooden elements, and subtle brass details create a space that is both understated and culturally resonant.
Natural light filters in through courtyards, jaali screens, and deep-set openings, ensuring a breezy and well-ventilated atmosphere. The interplay of shadow and light accentuates the textural richness of the interiors while maintaining thermal comfort.
This residence is a testament to slow living, where simplicity, material honesty, and spatial fluidity converge to form a serene yet deeply personal sanctuary.
